Seva is Compassion in action.  Translating our compassion and concern into useful service.  Helping others without expecting anything in return.

“Helping out is not some special skill.  It is not the domain of rare individuals.  It is not confined to a single part of our lives.  We simply heed the call of that natural impulse within and follow it where it leads us.” -Ram Dass

Seva is Compassion in action.  Translating our compassion and concern into useful service.  Helping others without expecting anything in return.  The connection between human beings, beyond the thought that we should be helping someone less fortunate than ourselves.  Truly, giving and sharing; completing the circle of life.

During the practice of seva, we perform familiar activities—whether cooking, cleaning, teaching, or working at the computer—with a focus on the Self, with awareness.  Selfless service is about more than just one person…

Volunteering, giving or helping with selfless intentions is vital for maintaining a healthy, vital attitude for oneself, and also for balancing one’s business relationship with the community at large.  The beautiful thing about Seva is that there are already so many wonderful, conscious organizations to work with.  With all sorts of levels of involvement available; from financial to time to type of commitment, the barriers between one’s self and the community come tumbling down.
