What drew you to yoga?
I began practicing yoga in 1999 when I was living in California and I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder. I immediately noticed that the physical practice of yoga made me feel well. At this point I did not realize the expansiveness of yoga, and I didn’t realize the incredible transformation that I would experience.
What made you commit to yoga?
After a few years of practicing regularly, I felt as if yoga brought my body back to balance… back to wellness… back to a state I could easily manage. I also began to notice the mindful benefits after a few years. I experienced a HUGE mental shift. It was like nothing I’ve ever experienced. It was scary and exhilarating at the same time. This experience was enough for me to want to continue, not only as a student, but also as a Teacher. I wanted to share this lovely gift of yoga with other people. I wanted to help others feel well and truly alive… and see their own inner beauty.
What are you doing now?
I teach local classes in Columbus, GA and I am also traveling to teach workshops as often as possible. I have taught workshops mostly in the southeast, but have also had the pleasure of teaching in Houston, Salt Lake City, Billings, MT, and also abroad in Spain and Ireland.
I recently created a workshop called “Exploring the Feminine Spirit.” It is a Yoga workshop that will guide women toward their feminine spirit, inner rhythm, a sense of balance, and a compassion heart. It’s been a lot of fun! A few other workshops that I enjoy teaching are “Awakening the Spine” and “Mindful Moving and the Rhythmic Body.”
Other projects that I’m working on are a new website and possibly an “Exploring the Feminine Spirit” DVD down the road. We’ll see.
