Annie Mahon, E-RYT 200, RCYT Washington, DC

Annie is the founder and director of Circle Yoga in Washington, DC, a studio bringing mindfulness yoga to people of all ages. She is co-founder of DC Yoga Week and Yoga on the National Mall, a Board member of the Mid-Atlantic Yoga Association and the Stillwater Mindfulness Community, and is active in organizing community yoga events in the Washington, DC area. Annie holds Master’s degrees in both computer science (University of Michigan) and religious studies (Howard University). She is currently enrolled in a 500-hour massage therapy program at the Potomac Massage Training Institute. Annie studies, practices, and teaches yoga primarily in a mixed anusara- mindfulness style. Her primary teachers are Thich Nhat Hanh, Philip Moffit, Kate Miller, her four children, and the monks and nuns of Plum Village. In October, 2009, Annie was ordained into the Buddhist Order of Interbeing. Annie is an E-RYT 200, having completed a 400-hour Anusara training in 2004. She also studies and practices non-violent communication (NVC) with Marshall Rosenberg and Robert Gonzales. Annie has a strong interest in using mindfulness, yoga, NVC, and touch to help reduce suffering in herself and others.
